The National Pastime Presents: BEYOND TANGO The Spektral Quartet and bandoneon ace Julien Labro
The National Pastime Theater continues it's 2013 music series with a live show in the Great Hall of the Uptown Preston Bradley Center. Accordion and bandoneon phenom Julien Labro teams up with Chicago's own fast-rising Spektral Quartet for a groovy, virtuosic program of South American jazz and tangos, featuring music from Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Paraguay, and more. Spektral Quartet joins bandoneon ace Julien Labro in the recording studio for a joint release on Azica records and a showcase at the first annual Chicago Music Summit. Labro has carved a career catapulting the squeezebox beyond the limits of Piazzolla's nuevo tango and this upcoming incendiary collaboration is so hot it will set off smoke alarms in The acoustically perfect 1920's Great Hall of the Uptown Preston Bradley Center. 9 p.m. BYOB.
