Ensemble 212 Season Opener: Verdi, Ke-Chia Chen, Sarasate & Brahms
Ensemble 212 opens its 2013-14 Season with Verdi's intensely lyrical Prelude to Act III of La Traviata as a tribute to the composer's 200th Birthday. Core member Elizabeth Martignetti will perform the world premiere of Composer in Residence Ke-Chia Chen's The Silent Flame for horn & orchestra, followed by Residence Ke-Chia Chen's The Silent Flame for horn & orchestra, followed by Sarasate's dazzling showpiece Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs) with violinist Sean Lee. The concert will conclude with Brahms' youthful Serenade No.. The concert will conclude with Brahms' youthful Serenade No. 1 in D Major in the US premiere of Lee's reconstruction of the earlier version for chamber orchestra.
