Topeka really is a JAZZ town! September 21 don't miss "Jazzin' It Up Downtown" for a great afternoon of listening. Notable jazz musicians will bring their unique sounds to Kansas Avenue - 3 inside venues with our outdoor finale headlining The KC Jazz Disciples.
Schedule/Musicians: (700 Block of South Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas) Start: 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm Each group plays three 30 minute sets with 15 minute breaks at same location allowing you to rotate to each venue. Classic Bean (722 S. Kansas): Bram Wijnands (Keyboard, bass and drum) New City Café (715 S. Kansas): The Ryan Simpson Quintet (Bass, keyboard, drum and brass) Lupita's Mexican Restaurant (732 S. Kansas): Stan Kessler and the Sons of Brasil (Latin jazz ensemble, heavy in percussion)
Main Event: 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm (Open Air venue in 700 Block of South Kansas Avenue. In event of rain, performance will be moved inside Topeka Performing Arts Center) Avenue Stage: The KC Jazz Disciples (Popular Midwest jazz group with legendary vocalist, Luqman Hamza, for a GREAT 90 minute set)
Gate entrance: 8th & Kansas - Please have ticket and proof of age at gate entrance. (Must be 21 and over to be served or drink alcoholic beverages)
Parking: Free parking in metered parking and in City Garages every Saturday - Park N Shop 615 Quincy / Townsite 110 SE 6th / Center City 825 SW Kansas / Crosby Place 108 SW 8th. Handicapped parking available on first level of Crosby Place Garage.
