Jenny Johnson and Friends at The Old Feed Store
Jenny Johnson is an Americana, soul-singing, guitar-picking songwriter from the deep, damp backwoods of Southern Illinois
This year she's performing all over the area including the 2013 Carbondale Rocks Revival with Marshall Crenshaw. This will be the cutting of her first album and for EVERY ticket sold, Jenny will donate an hour of her time to cleaning up trails at Giant City State Park. Listen to Jenny here "Wandering Still" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biT3GGLK4Fs She'll be performing with singer/ guitarist David Brown of Secondary Modern. David is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who has toured the US and is bringing his slick and thoughtful guitar skills for the first time to the Old Feed Store. https://www.facebook.com/secondarymodern?ref=br_tf Also performing with Jenny are members of an all original 60's throwback band, The Flowers of Evil, featuring guitarists Marcus Lappin and Daniel Tejada as well as drummer Chris Wittman. https://www.facebook.com/theflowersofevil Local legend and red-hot mama Union County Sal will also be gracing the stage with her infectious enthusiasm and a large set of pipes. Opening up for Jenny is The Voyageurs, featuring Janis Esch and Marshall Anderson. Taking their name from the 19th century traders who braved the wild Mississippi River to bring goods to New Orleans, the Voyageurs aspire to capture the feel of America past and present, from the rocky shores of St. Louis to the muddy Delta. They blend flavors of nu-folk, maritime and blues to create a distinctive, arresting sonic texture. https://www.facebook.com/thevoyageursband Be apart of a live recording, listen to the local flavors of our region, and enjoy brighter, cleaner hiking trails.
