Unquestionably self-indulgent, ONLY GOD FORGIVES stars Gosling as an ex-pat in an inky, neon-lit Bangkok whose abusively controlling mother (Thomas) forces him to track down his brother's murderer. This reteaming of the creative juices behind the cult hit Drive star Ryan Gosling and writer/director Nicolas Winding Refn has been extremely divisive. If Drive played like a 45rpm action film played at 33rpm, ONLY GOD FORGIVES is a 78rpm revenge flick slowed to 33rpm.
