qFLIX Philadelphia 2020 is proud to present our Opening Night Film + Black & Pink Gala to be held at two fabulous venues on one spectacular night in recognition of twenty-six years of LGBTQ+ film festivals in the Philadelphia region.

We begin our evening on the red carpet at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre on Sunday, March 22, at 6:30 PM, for the Philadelphia premiere of STRAIGHT UP, a hilarious romantic comedy. The film is an assured and refreshing first feature from writer, director and star, James Sweeny. Sweeny play Todd a hyper-articulate, obsessive compulsive gay twentysomething whose fear of dying alone leads him to a baffling conclusion: he might not be gay after all. When he meets Rory (Kate Findlay), a whip-smart struggling actress with her own set of insecurities, the two forge a relationship thats all talk and no sex. He might be gay. She might not care. A romantic-comedy drama with a twist; a love story without the thrill of copulation.

The Opening Night continues with the Black & Pink Benefit Gala, hosted by One Liberty Observation Deck on the 57th Floor of One Liberty. Attendees will celebrate 26 years of LGBTQ+ film festivals among the stars with a 360-degree view of the city and will enjoy a night which features light fare by DiBruno Brothers, delicious desserts, and an open bar, along with music and dancing!
