Boasting a fresh and modern patina, Navajo trumpeter Delbert Anderson performs regularly with his world-class jazz trio as well as his new collaborative group DDAT, which is the Delbert Anderson Trio plus lyricist Def-i, an ensemble inspired by ancient Native American melodies fused with jazz, hip hop, funk and soul. A Top-10 runner up for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series, DDAT recently released its critically acclaimed debut Roadrunner, 11 songs blending Def-i's intelligent poetry and hip-hop style with the hard driving funk-jazz jams of Delbert Anderson (Trumpet), Nicholas Lucero (Drums) and Mike McCluhan (Bass). Funky, complex, forward thinking and 0ut of the box, DDAT has carved a high-desert path that modulates time and still manages to get people dancing.
Big thanks to Duet & Provisions Fine Wine Purveyors for collaborating with us on this tasting.
