THE DYBBUK - Film and Talk
The film, THE DYBBUK, brings the classic play to the screen in a newly restored version. Shot on location in Poland in 1937, it was influenced by German Expressionism, and its exquisite musical and dance interludes evoke the cultural richness of the shtetl communities on the eve of World War II. Professor Gabriella Safran, will discuss the folkloric traditions that infuse the story in a talk before the film. (The talk begins at 1 PM, the film at 2:20 PM)
