SKDC Boot Camp: Beach Ball Beauties
Join the Sister Kate Dance Company for a a BRAND NEW 4-week class experience, where students will learn a classic style chorus line choreography to perform for the public! If you have longed to dance in a group of like-minded jazz dance lovin' souls, then this series is for you!
This April we'll pretend we're frolicking on a sandy, warm beach as we dance it up in a 1930s Busby Berkeley inspired beach ball prop routine.

Anyone who is excited to wear heels and kick those legs in a line of like-minded fabulous individuals!
Note: Our boot camps are intended for age 21+ dancers, as our performances often take place in venues that are 21+ only.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays in April 2020
January 7 - 7:30-9:00pm
January 14, 21, 28 - 8:00 - 9:00pm
Performance to be held at Swing It Seattle - Saturday, May 2nd
* You must be present at all classes to perform with the group.

Classes will be held at Theatre Puget Sound - Theater G (4th Floor)
Performance on Capitol Hill at the Polish Community Center (21+ event)

April 2020 Boot Camp - $70 per dancer, for 4.5 hours of instruction + beach ball prop + performance opportunity!
----------- WHAT ROUTINE WILL WE LEARN? -----------
Everyone will be learning an original choreography, choreographed by SKDC Artistic Director, Robin Nunnally! The routine is a cute 1930s Busby Berkeley style prop number. Instruction by Sister Kate Dance Company members Meg Taylor + Jess Askew Garcia.
----------- WHAT WILL I WEAR? -----------
For class sessions, wear anything comfy that you can move and sweat in. We recommend that you wear the shoes you will perform in so you are accustomed to how they will feel. For class and performing, we like a low black heel (preferably 1"-2" heel).
For the performance, we are allowing dancers to purchase whatever swimsuit they like and feel comfortable in, as long as it is within the guidelines of the performance requirements (full list of requirements in student welcome email to come). Dance tights recommended.

DO I HAVE TO PERFORM OR CAN I JUST TAKE THE CLASS?
It is not required that you participate in the performance to take the class, although what's the fun in that?
CAN ANYONE PERFORM?
As long as you are willing to wear the "team costume", a pair of black heels (we can recommend some), and attend all the class rehearsals, then you're absolutely in for performing! (21+ only)

PHYSICAL DISCLAIMER
This boot camp will help build your core, leg muscles, and arms. There is quite a bit of floor work, including laying on your back with legs in the air kicking and (very) briefly sitting on your knees on the floor. None of the movements are fast or difficult. You may experience some muscle soreness during the class series from all that leg and core work, but it'll be worth it! Don't forget to stretch and drink water!
REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
* We allow refunds for our camps up to 2 weeks before the scheduled Boot Camp start date! This allows us to choreograph for a known number of attendees and not disrupt formations/numbers.
* In the event of a cancellation by SKDC, we will refund your full amount asap.
