Rick Flowers Presents Black Folk Funk Music
To commemorate Black history month, Rick Flowers & Floroq Music presents, Black Folk & Funk music.

In the Madison music scene, Rick Flowers is widely known as a drummer. But on this special occasion, Rick really wants to bring the authentic flavor with Black Folk & Funk music. To do this, Flowers will be performing on piano and vocals. Flowers has on occasion, performed as a keyboardist in Madison, with acts such as the Black Poets Society, and the Rob Dz Experience. Flowers stylings on keyboards suggests the influences of Sly Stone, Billy Preston, and Joni Mitchell. Flowers, wrote all of the music and produced the Rob Dz Experience album Soul Anthems. The album ranked #12 on the Isthmus Top 25 Madison pop albums of all time.

The recent addition of drummer, Kevin Carnes to the Madison music scene, has given Rick the freedom to go back his roots on piano and vocals. Carnes sensitivity and fluency, provides beats and grooves that solidly underpins the funk and creativity of Flowers original music. In the band, Rick includes his fellow leaders of the old school, and lifelong musical compatriots, Harlan Jefferson (saxes), and Frede Crawford (bass). They are perennial members of Madisons acclaimed, Juneteenth Allstar band. Respectively from Rockford, and Beloit, both are very well known and highly respected musicians., They will delight you with their soul and skill. Guitarist Vince Jesse, brings the heat and the cool. Jesse is well known in Madison for his collaborations as the guitarist for with many jazz acts, and the R&B act Phat Phunktion. He has the chops to hang with these heavyweights.
