Thurs, 9/5: The Matt Otto Quintet- w/David Valdez, Storm Nielsen, Chris Higgins and Randy Rollofson. Kansas City based saxophonist Matt Otto is an internationally recognized performer, and this show at Camellia will be his only appearance in the NW. Matt regularly performs in L.A. and New York City, and is one of the founding members of the Los Angeles Jazz Collective. Matt's approach combines a thorough understanding of Classic Bebop with the modern Post-Bop concepts of musicians like Coltrane, Lennie Tristano and George Garzone.
