Handmade Moments at Cafe Istanbul
An amalgam of Beatnik porch-jazz, mystical mountain song, circus folk-hop with a dash of R&B chanteuse, Handmade Moments are kaleidoscopic children of the Ozarks. Anna Moss and Joel Ludford are kindred spirits and multi-instrumentalists, reveling in everything from bass clarinet, saxophone, sousaphone, mandolin, and stand-up bass. Their 2018 release, Paw Paw Tree, is ripe with plain-spoken poetics woven within swirling, funky rhythms, and atop melodies that tug on the heartstrings. Their wildly-popular live performances run the gamut, bathing in Southern roots, R&B, folk, jazz and more.
