Hot Jazz At The Gallery With The Jacqueline Tabor Jazz Band
Our First "HOT JAZZ AT THE GALLERY" for 2020 - a bimonthly series of jazz oriented concerts in the gallery - celebrates February's BLACK HISTORY MONTH and honors our featured artist for February, LA-based painter, "KENNETH MOORE: ANOTHER CONVERSATION IN BLACK SURREALITY". (Exhibition Opening and Artist Reception, Thursday February 6, 2020.) Mr. Moore, age 70, is an avid fan of jazz and owned a Jazz coffee house in LA which is still talked about today by musicians and fans, THE HOWLING MONK.
JACQUELINE TABOR We're honored to present as the featured performer one of the most sought after vocalists in the Northwest, Ms. JACQUELINE TABOR and THE JACQUELINE TABOR JAZZ BAND. Ms Tabor has long been a favorite jazz vocalist, was the 2018 EARSHOT JAZZ VOCALIST OF THE YEAR, and has performed at many of the most prestigious venues in the Pacific Northwest, including Benaroya Hall, The Kirkland Performance Center, and The Edmonds Center For The Arts.
"Tabor has a grasp on multiple genres of music, from jazz, to blues, to Americana to traditional ballads. On her latest release, "The Lady in The Gown," she showcases them all with a voice that is very sweet and pervasively easy to listen to." -PAUL WILSON, AUDIOPHILE REVIEW
"Jacqueline Tabors voice seems to transcend those modest goals by the sheer perfection of the execution. I know this is a personal thing, but there's something about Tabor's voice that is so exquisitely rendering and so flawless. I don't think she sings one single note that isn't the right note, with the perfect amount of sustained vibrato. Yet there's nothing about her voice that isn't deeply human and touched by the emotions contained in the lyrics." -MARC PHILLIPS, THE VINYL ANACHRONIST
HOT JAZZ AT THE GALLERY continues our dedication to music - which began when the gallery was selected as the VIP Venue for the late Paul Allen's UPSTREAM MUSIC FEST. Music and Visual Art, is fundamental to our humanity, soothes the exhausted soul, and elevates our spirit unlike anything else. We're proud to bring these two cultural traditions together for one night, every other month. Please Join Us!
