The true story of Carmelite nuns caught in the crossfire of the French Revolutions Reign of Terror. This beautiful opera explores dimensions of mortal fear and spiritual redemption while posing thought-provoking questions about the role of faith, sacrifice and violence as a way to bring about change. The work is based on a historic novella by Gertude von Le Fort which had been set to dialogue by Georges Bernanos.
