Anne Weiss - with Jean Pierre Garau, Julio Appling and Martin Zarzar Anne Weiss - an award winning singer/songwriter of blues, new-folk and roots music - will be performing at Artichoke Music with her Well-Behaved Band - featuring keyboard player and vocalist JP Garau (Ellen Whyte and Aaron Meyer), bassist Julio Appling (Student Loan), and percussionist and vocalist Martin Zarzar (Pink Martini).

The players:
Anne Weiss is a vocalizing treasure - a songwriting, blues belting and gospel wailing multi-instrumentalist, with an enormous, soulful voice thats an unusual cross between Janice Joplin and Joni Mitchell, with some Aretha Franklin thrown in for good measure. - Portland S.E. Examiner

Jean-Pierre Garau - a Nord Keyboard Artist - enjoys an active vocation playing the piano, keyboards and singing. Hes a soloist and currently performs in ensembles with Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer, Ellen Whyte, Al Perez, David Jacobs-Strain, Radio Stranger and Anne Weiss - also in shows celebrating the music of Bonnie Raitt and George Harrison. In addition to performing live, JPs a session player, composer, music interpreter, chart preparer, music director and educator - co-leading kids music and songwriting workshops with Aaron Meyer and Ellen Whyte.

Bassist Julio Appling performed for over a decade with the jamgrass quartet, Student Loan Stringband. Ever on-call, Julios appeared alongside a number of prominent regional artists including The Good Time Travelers, Never Come Down Band, Ben Larsen, Laura Ivancie, Stephanie Strange, Kory Quinn, Tara Velarde, Ara Lee, Clara Baker, and Will West.

Percussionist Martin Zarzar is a singer/songwriter, producer, composer and arranger. Having won several awards for his solo work, Martins been well received among critics, musicians and audiences alike. His music is inspired by a life of travel, a multicultural upbringing and his commitment to an open, pluralistic and just society.
