Il Trovatore at The Elk's Ballroom, Virago Theatre Company
Virago Theatre Company is proud to present Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece "Il Trovatore" in a limited engagement of just four performances at the elegant Alameda Elk's Ballroom, 2255 Santa Clara Ave! Ellen St. Thomas directs, Maestro Robert Ashens conducts this glorious and spellbinding opera. Virago Resident Artist Eileen Meredith sings the role of Leonora, Alex Boyer sings Manrico, Jo Vincent Parks as Count di Luna and Elizabeth Baker as Azucena.
Set in a tribal, medieval world, Virago's Il Trovatore will mesmerize audiences with its scorching tale of the vengeful gypsy Azucena, her son Manrico, his romance with the noblewoman Leonora, and his rivalry with the Conte di Luna. A superb cast carries the opera from its spectacular opening, through the famous Anvil Chorus, to its jaw-dropping finale!
