And the Beat Goes On: A Comedic Cabaret about Trying to Hit the Right Notes
A comedic cabaret about trying to hit the right notes. Parodies and original songs accompanied by a 3 piece band tell the journey of a mature nurse and her struggles with her profession and her life. Many years ago she became a registered nurse that instead of being a career, ended up being a sentence. She hears songs in her head and has always used music as a coping mechanism. A journey of a difficult childhood coupled with wrong choices and unfortunate events led to anxiety and depression. Although she made many attempts to improve her life over time, ( in 1988 she walked barefoot on burning coals with Tony Robbins) she hit the spiritual equivalent of "rock bottom" last year when a physical illness came upon her and presented the last straw. Yet this is a comedy and there is a happy ending. Learn how she had to lose her mind to become a different person. Written and performed by Charley Karlotta. Directed by and developed with Jessica Lynn Johnson.
