On Wenlock Edge
Ralph Vaughan Williams' setting of "On Wenlock Edge," in the original 1911 version with the Artisan String Quartet (Patrice Calixte, Caleb H Polashek, Bruce Williams and Douglas Harvey), and pianist Marti Mortensen Ahern. Incredibly evocative poetry drawn from A. E. Houseman's "A Shropshire Lad," tells of confronting your past, losing love, and ultimately, finding yourself. There's even a dialogue between a ghost and his friend-- who betrayed him, for a bit of high drama. The performances are on February 28 and 29th, 2020.
The Artisan Quartet will also perform Dvoraks Quartet Op. 51.
