BRONX WORLD FILM CYCLE, WINTER 2020 at La Nacional in Manhattan

FEATURE: DOS FRIDAS (SCR/DIR Ishtar Yasin, COSTA RICA, 2019, color, 92:00. Fiction.)  This feature comes fresh off a world festival circuit in almost a dozen countries, picking up awards and accolades along the way. It is the story of the Costa Rican nurse who took care of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo for the last years of her life. Director Ishtar Yasin is a frequent collaborator with Bronx World Film, which has in the past screened her first feature film, El camino, and the short film Sed, by Aldo Gutiérrez Cortés.  A SCANDAL THAT EVERYONE KNOWS (SCR/DIR Dana Lee, KOREA, 2018. TRT 4:38. Animation.) Russia, 1870. The Royal Laboratory, where the most talented people in the country come together to make weapons. Kacha, a brilliant and beautiful new researcher who obtained her position there because of her mothers influence and high social status, captures the hearts of existing reserarchers. She is asked to work with Professor Fedor, who has his eye on her. The Professor has a wife and son, but soon falls in love with her. Kacha enters into conflict with Professor Fedors researchers as to who will get credit for the research. Everyone knows about the relationship between Professor Fedor and Kacha, but they say nothing at all.

BEAST (SCR/DIR Marie Chalandre, FRANCE, 2018, color, 07:00. Animation thriller.)  A man, a beach, a hut, and a sea. He waits for the one who has come already and will not come back again. He has devoured her with his bestial love. Colors dance on his body, drawing the memory of a passion. (US Premiere)
