Remembering The Kingston Trio
The Kingston Trio hit the airwaves in 1958 with their rendition of a 19th-century ballad about a convicted murderer named Tom Dooley.  Captivating the record-buying public with a musical genre known as folk music, Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds and Dave Guard quickly became Capitol Records top-selling act.  Over the next ten years the group produced more than a dozen Top 10 albums, garnered eight Grammy nominations and played to sold-out audiences around the world.

The Kingston Trios personnel changed several times during the ensuing decades, and in 1985, they enlisted the services of Bob Haworth, a veteran of The Brothers Four, to fill the tenor role.  Bob sang with the group until 2005, when he left to pursue his solo singer/song-writer career.  But his legacy as a member of this iconic group followed him and his audiences have continued to request the hit songs that live on in our lexicon of American music.  In response, Haworth has created a two-hour retrospective entitled Remembering The Kingston Trio to present the music and tell the story of this amazing musical phenomenon.

Tapping on the talents of John Hollis and Andrew Brock to fill out the Trio, Bob Haworth takes us back in time to relive the music that got the world singing along with such memorable tunes as Where Have All The Flowers Gone, Greenback Dollar, Scotch and Soda, and of course, Tom Dooley, to name a few.  The show includes 26 of The Kingston Trios biggest hits, interwoven with fascinating stories about the groups rise to stardom and its impact on the American music scene.  More than just an entertainment vehicle, Remembering The Kingston Trio serves as an historical documentation of an era that spawned such folk artists as Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Brothers Four and many others.

This show is suitable for all ages and even if youre too young to have heard this music on the radio, youre sure to find yourself tapping your feet and having a great time.
