To PETER MULVEY, there is no such thing as a straight and narrow path. At least, not one that he has any interest in taking.
A live-wire on any stage, Peter is an acoustic singer/songwriter/guitarist who, in fact, defies this categorization. The Milwaukee-based sister duo SISTASTRINGS combines their classical background with R&B with a touch of gospel influence that culminates in a unique sound. With thick string harmonies between violin (Chauntee Ross) and cello (Monique Ross) and soulful voices, SistaStrings takes you on a journey. The sisters not only write and arrange but find pleasure sitting in with musicians and exploring what sounds come from improvisation and spontaneity.use R&B and classical string arrangements into something entirely new to the Milwaukee music scene.
Outside of playing music venues, SistaStrings goes into schools and conducts assemblies, encouraging young people to pursue the arts and to not be afraid of hard work. Outreach and representation are important to them as African American string players. They are advocates for diversity in the arts and promote social justice in all that they do musically. SistaStrings released their debut EP this summer.
