EVENT POSTPONED - Mysteries of the Macabre with Kirsten Ashley Wiest in Private Concert
Regretfully, we need to postpone this event to a later date, most likely January. Sorry for the inconvenience. Notifications will be sent.
Have you experienced the Mysteries of the Macabre?
On November 2, Halloween will have come and gone, but it won't be too late for the Mysteries of the Macabre, as conjured up by Soprano Kirsten Ashley Wiest and pianist Alastair Edmonstone. Transcribed for piano and high soprano ("high" as in vocal range, not as in...nevermind) from Gyorgy Ligeti's 1996 opera "La Grande Macabre", "Mysteries of the Macabre" defies musical description. Mind and ear bending, it pushes the vocal envelope beyond levels previously imagined by men or fallen angels, and redefines what playing the piano involves. Yet Wiest and Edmonstone are up for the task. (Fifth Element's "Diva" has nothing on Kirsten!). Be warned, however. Mysteries of the Macabre might just wake the dead, so delve therein only if thou darest.
The remainder of the program will be announced later, but who cares?
Doors open at 6:30. Recital begins at 7:00 and continues to eternity, or to around 8:30, whichever happens first.
All of this at a swanky private home in Laguna Beach, located, aptly, on "High" Drive. No joke.
