Rapid Innovation Play Date - Pilot program
Over the past year or so we have been asked a number of times to teach and share from our three years of experience with the 3231 Creatives Project. Located in Everett Washington, our 3231 project (3231creatives.com) has transformed roughly 24,000 square feet of empty warehouse, manufacturing and office space into a vibrant innovative co-working space that supports the local creative community. As people become familiar with the project, they often ask if there are specific principles that we follow. How do we promote the collaborative leadership necessary to facilitate transformation? How do we employ bootstrapping methodology to maximize effectiveness of resources?
The range of people who have expressed interest in a learning experience based on the 3231 transformation is as diverse as the people working out of 3231 Creatives. We have been approached by Community leaders, entrepreneurs, and members of organizations large and small. Some inquires have come from the private sector and some from non-profit groups.
What have they been asking for? Basically, what they want is a methodology for altering the rules of engagement for themselves and/or their organizations. An engineering manager, familiar with innovation mash-ups at Microsoft, expressed an interest in "Rapid Innovation". The results desired are translating ideas into action, and building a capacity for innovation and implementation.
In response to this interest, we have been working with a colleague in Chicago, Wendy Balman to develop a hands on, experiential program for creating a culture of innovation. Participants will explore innovation in both individual and group contexts.
This is a special invitation to join us as we launch this project. You will leave with Rapid Innovation strategies and tools that can be used both personally and professionally. You will also leave with several creative artifacts you will be producing.
