In this version of Euripides tragedy, Medea is a foreigner whom her husband, Jason, has dragged all the way to the Atacama Desert, in Chile. This is how Medea has come to roam the precarious reality of the Chilean mining industry, in an undefined space and time. In this geographically extreme and desert place, Medea shall be abandoned by Jason when he decides to marry a gold mine. Medea is expelled from the mining region and is given just one day to disappear.
