Timberline Express "Late November"
Formed in 2016, the Timberline Express Big Band is comprised of some of the most exceptional jazz musicians from the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. The group seeks to produce music that respects the history and tradition of the big band genre, and also seeks to move it down the tracks to heightened conceptual realms, all within the highest standard of musical performance.
The musical material is very diverse, ranging from the basic blues tunes and standard jazz form compositions traditionally associated with the big band, all the way to classically based and extended compositions that push the envelope in numerous ways.
"Late November" celebrates the end of the fall season as it moves into the Holiday Season with the enthusiasm, beauty, diversity, sensitivity, and excitement of contemporary big band jazz! You will hear TE favorites from past years, titles from our second CD "Hot Tracks," which was released this fall and will be available for sale; as well as a number of Christmas music premieres in settings by TE founder and director Martin Behnke. As always, the show will include the full array of stellar jazz soloists from the band as well as the sensational vocals of Jeffri Lynn Carrington.
A number of Martin Behnke's jazz band settings of music for the holidays will be premiered on this concert, to be recorded and produced in the spring for the upcoming album "The Holidays with Timberline Express!"
