We open the program with Maurice Ravel, Lili Boulanger, and Vieuxtemps, followed by Gabriel Fauré.
Ravel's Duo for Violin and Cello reflects one of the musical movements of early 20th century Europe, the incorporation of the rich tradition of folk music and its passionate rhythmic verve. Fauré's charming and elegant Quartet for Piano in C Minor takes us on an emotional journey, from the lighthearted melodic beginnings to the grandeur and intensity of the finale.
Canadian piano virtuoso Francine Kay joins us for this quintessentially French program that has us longing for romantic days gone by.
