2nd International Quinoa Research Symposium
August 16th  19th, 2020. The symposium will take place in Port Townsend, WA, on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula. An optional pre-symposium research plot tour in Mt. Vernon, WA, located about an hour and a half north of Seattle, will occur on Sunday August 16th.

Hosted by the WSU Sustainable Seed Systems Lab in collaboration with the WSU Food Systems Program, the 2nd International Quinoa Research Symposium will bring together the global community of quinoa farmers, processors, handlers, marketers, and scientists at a historic venue in Port Townsend, WA, a picturesque town in a unique and promising quinoa growing region. The objective of the Symposium is to focus world attention on the role that quinoas biodiversity, adaptability, and nutritional value plays in providing food security, seed sovereignty, sustainable production and wholistic use worldwide.

There will also be an optional tour of research plots on the morning of Sunday, August 16, in Mount Vernon, WA. The Symposium will officially begin at Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA on Monday August 17th and end after morning sessions on Wednesday August 19th. The two and a half days will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, a poster session as well as hands-on workshops and field visits to local farms.

This event is an important opportunity to network and collaborate on an international stage. Also included in Symposium will be locally sourced meals Monday and Tuesday, along with breakfast Wednesday. Monday evening will include networking opportunities and a poster session with quinoa-based beers and spirits.
