A Feast of Song
We feature the music of Johannes Brahms - one of the greatest composers of all time. SDG presents several of his Liebeslieder-Walzer (Lovesong Waltzes), and songs from "The Fountain of Youth." Sacred music is celebrated through Franz Schubert's rich "Psalm 23" the stellar "Ave Verum Corpus" by Poulenc, vivacious settings of "Alleluia," luscious music by Eleanor Daley, and a jubilant "Canticum Novum" by Swiss composer Ivo Antognini. Guest choir Central Valley Vocal Project, a men's choir, joins SDG in one of Morten Lauridsen's popular works, "Sure On This Shining Night." The concert begins and ends with a focus on the joy and power of singing.
