Intermezzo: Ars Nova Singers with the Stratus Chamber Orchestra
Music holds all things together its the connective tissue. Ars Nova Singers and Denvers Stratus Chamber Orchestra (David Rutherford, conductor) will perform magnificent and famous music written specifically to connect: Intermezzo from Mascagnis "Cavaleria Rusticana," Puccinis "Humming Chorus" from Madama Butterfly, and Mozarts vibrant "Regina Coeli" (K. 276). As these pieces served to connect acts, scenes, and liturgy, Randall Thompson uses music to connect text, music and the human heart, setting music to the poetry of Robert Frost in his 1959 cycle of songs for chamber orchestra and chorus, "Frostiana."
The concert will be presented at Boulder First United Methodist Church in downtown Boulder.
