Dir. Ken Loach 2016 UK Drama Cert 15 100 mins
Following a heart attack, 59-year-old widowed carpenter, Daniel (Dave Johns), finds himself at the mercy of the UK welfare system, which insists he return to his job. As Daniel navigates the agonising appeal process with unquenchable decency, courage and perseverance, he develops a deep camaraderie with a young single mother, and vows to help her, whatever the cost.
Hailed as a work of scalding and moving relevance (Variety), I, Daniel Blake is one of Loachs finest films, and were delighted to be screening it as part of our Pay As You Feel series.
This month, were partnering with Croydon Nightwatch, who will be discussing the amazing work they do to help and support the homeless.

Croydon Nightwatch:
Croydon Nightwatch is a local charity that provides direct support for homeless people and others in need. They help people at every level of homelessness, from the street homeless to those in hostels and bed & breakfast accommodation and vulnerable former homeless people who need continuing support if they are not to become homeless again.
Nightwatch volunteers are out every night in the centre of Croydon giving food and other help to homeless and other vulnerable people. They can be found every night at 9.30pm in the Queens Gardens, by Fell Road. For more information on the work Croydon Nightwatch does, visit http://croydonnightwatch.org.uk/ or follow them on twitter @WeAreNightwatch. To volunteer, get in touch with: cindeenw@gmail.com
