Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society Concert Series
ABOUT SGFMS The Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society has been presenting live folk music in Thunder Bay for 17 years. We are pleased to announce that William Prince will open our 18th season on September 22, 2018 at the Port Arthur Polish Hall. Doors open at 7:00 pm; music starts at 8:00. Tickets are $30 in advance. If the show is not sold out, tickets at the door are $30 for SGFMS members and $35 for non-members.
ABOUT SLOCAN RAMBLERS Slocan Ramblers are a Canadian bluegrass group out of Toronto, ON. Formed in 2011 and named for the Slocan Valley in British Columbia, the band consists of Adrian Gross on mandolin, Darryl Poulsen on guitar, Alistair Whitehead on bass and Frank Evans on three finger and clawhammer banjo. They released their debut album, Shaking Down the Acorns, in 2012 followed by Coffee Creek in 2015 and Queen City Jubilee in 2018. They received a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Best Traditional Album in 2016 and a Juno Award nomination for Traditional Roots Album of the Year in 2019.
