Barber, Bernstein, Copeland, Ellington, Floyd, Gershwin, Ives, Joplin, Rodgers, Sondheim, Sousa these are just a few of the celebrated names that come to mind when you think of the distinct and innovative composers of American music. Drawing influence from American folk music, jazz, blues, and pop styles, American composers took the European classical music tradition and made it their own! From classical and jazz, to big band and Broadway, American composers embrace the heart and spirit of the people, cities and landscapes that inspire them. Join us for a night of music celebrating the esteemed works of Americas renowned composers with performances by the talented and professional CMS musicians.
