Fiddler on the Roof: Behind the Musical
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of America's greatest musicals, conceived by four brilliant artists: Jerome Robbins, Joseph Stein and the songwriting team of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. As the show approached opening night on Broadway after a grueling tryout tour, Robbins and company were apprehensive: Perhaps this musical was too ethnic for popular appeal. But Fiddler went on to be performed in 32 countries and in 16 languages a testament to its universality. You'll hear all of the songs and the back story behind the creation of a musical that critic John Chapman called "touching, beautiful, warm, funny and inspiring. It is a work of art."
