Ronn McFarlane - Lutenist
Grammy-nominated lutenist Ronn McFarlane brings the lute the most popular instrument of the Renaissance into todays musical mainstream, and makes it accessible to a wider audience.
Ronns performances marry haunting melodies with stunning technical skills. In addition to his mastery of the classics, Ronn has composed new music for the lute, building on the tradition of lutenist/composers of past centuries. His original compositions are the focus of his 2009 Grammy-nominated solo CD, Indigo Road.
In this concert Ronn will play music by Elizabethan master John Dowland; traditional Scottish and Irish music from the 17th and 18th centuries; the Italian virtuoso Alessandro Piccinini; and the genius of J.S. Bach. In addition, you'll hear some of Ronn's original compositions.
