NJProghouse Presents: The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra w/Mile Marker Zero and Shueh-li Ong
The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra
http://www.galacticcowboyorchestra.com

The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra  has been freakin minds for 6 years! Since 2009, the band has stretched their own musical limits with album after album of intensely energetic ART-ROCK. Definition of ART-ROCK: A type of rock music, often with poetic lyrics, characterized by sophisticated harmonic, dynamic and technical complexity based on forms derived from classical (and jazz) music and requiring performers of considerable training and skill. It sounds so serious, but when you combine that type of music with four fun-loving musicians who dont take themselves too seriously and who have a love of so much music beyond art-rock (which is why the band covers songs from Otis Rushs All Your Love to Whipping Post to When the Levee Breaks to YYZ), you get a bit of magic in live music form. The band writes and performs music that excites them and has a blast doing it! The GCO appreciates and aspires to superior musicianship while combining their love of a good riff, hummable melody and groovy jam over a jazz/jazz-rock musical bedrock. It all culminates in an intensely energetic live performance because we freakin love what we do and love that the fans dig it too!!

What other bands do we sound like? We have been compared to King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Dixie Dregs, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Mile Marker Zero
http://www.milemarkerzero.com/

MILE MARKER ZERO was formed in 2005 when brothers, vocalist Dave Alley and drummer Doug Alley, alongside childhood friend keyboardist Mark Focarile, and original bassist Tim Rykoski met guitarist John Tuohy at Western Connecticut State University. They released their debut EP, The Haunted, in 2006, and began to captivate audiences as they were seen performing alongside the likes of Porcupine Tree, Underoath, Spocks Beard, and Devil Wears Prada.

Having created a buzz on the Northeastern prog circuit, the band returned to the studio to record their debut full-length effort in 2009, and were the first-ever unsigned artist to be featured in the popular Harmonix/MTV Games videogame series, Rock Band.

MMZ continued to make several live appearances, including gigs with Periphery, Scale the Summit, Nothing More, Adrenaline Mob, Fair to Midland, and more. In 2014, the band released the electrifying Young Rust EP, which was lauded as a must-listen for fans of commercial progressive music (Metal Insider) and saw the band receive the award for "Best Band (Connecticut) at the 2016 New England Music Awards.

In 2017, bassist Jaco Lindito joined the band to complete the current line up and produce the band's latest work THE FIFTH ROW, a concept album released in March of 2018. The narrative of the album is focused on the exponential growth of Artificial Intelligence, and it's effects on humanity. It has received rave reviews stating "The Fifth Row is remarkably confident, meticulously mapped out, and ceaselessly interesting, making it the bands crowning achievement thus far and one of the first great genre albums of 2018".

Shueh-li Ong

AUSTRALIAN-BORN SINGAPORE
ARTIST-PRODUCER-THEREMINIST
modern synthpop  indie  prog  fusion

What one immediately notices on listening to Shueh-li is her distinctive use of the ethereal theremin, plucky guqin, exotic synth hooks, rustic tin-whistle and rich vocal harmonies.
Shueh-li Ong
Evolution of Media calls it Sophisticated pop that fuses Eastern & Western music influences that only an exceptional talent can pull off.

One wonders thereafter; why the theremin?

Shueh-li was a student of electronic music while studying classical piano at the Elder Conservatorium in Australia (her birthplace), with interactive multimedia techniques as her area of research.
Curiosity and perversity got involved in the selection of instruments she would formerly pursue. The theremin?  is not just a piece of history. It forces me to be disciplined and humble. We often have quarrels over whos right, like lovers do!

As one observes her petite frame flit from stitching the theremin into a beat pattern, slipping in a synth bass to bolster softsynth designs, producing sometimes poignant lyrics, other times a luscious instrumental, one realizes that her desire to embrace her foreign expressions is the central theme.

Xenovibes (foreign expressions; Austral+Asia, classical +electronic) became her flagship show band which premiered in Singapore to a standing-room-only crowd. She made her US debut at the Dallas Museum of Art a year later in 2005, to an audience of 4,380.

In 2010 Shueh-li relocated from Dallas to Nashville to write her debut solo album A Working TItle  special edition, released August 2012.

Since she began her journey, Shueh-li has been the 1st thereminist at various events, and worked with &/ or recorded such artists as Dean Parks (Steely Dan), Mike McKinney (Jackson 5) & Curtis Randall (LeAnne Rimes). But Shueh-li (pronounced Shelley) still has places to go; she wants to offer her music to the world.
Singapores Diva of the Theremin and MoogMusic endorsed artist, continues to write and perform as long as she is inspired. Though she is often spoken of in the vein of Kate Bush, Janet Jackson and Ryuichi Sakamoto, Shueh-li stands out as her own production!

An inspired artist who has brought fresh ideas in the theremin field. said ThereminVox of Italy. A truly amazing talent! Arts Monthly Australia. Electronic Musician magazine covered her studio techniques in a full-page article No Barriers.
