Gustavo Ramos delivers an impressive debut feature in this hard-boiled Puerto Rican ode to the everyday struggles and challenges that come with second chances.
Although Samuel has the talent to be a boxing champion, he seems destined to receive blows like a punching bag. Fresh out of prison, unable to feed his family and with temptations galore, Samuel can only find work as a sparring partner or chata. When his former boxing coach gives him the chance to get back in the ring, Samuel fights against all odds to win back his familys affection and prove to himself and everyone else that he is no longer the man he used to be. But in the neighborhood where hes from, putting down his guard for one second is the difference between success and falling back on dangerous habits.
