Concert series of season 2019-20:
MYSTERIES (OCTOBER 11-13, 2019): BSM in collaboration with Flying Forms will lead us to a mysterious journey depicting the evolution of early music, from Spain in the early Renaissance period, to Monteverdi's late Italian Renaissance, heading on to the ornate French Baroque music of Rameau, and finally to the intricate fugal writing of Bach in Germany.

BACHS CHRISTMAS ORATORIO  CANTATAS I, V, VI & CANTATA BWV 91 (DECEMBER 6-8, 2019)As a tradition, BSM  will perform Bach's beloved retelling of the Christmas story for the third year in a row, following critical acclaim for last year's performance. With Christmas right around the corner, join BSM for an unforgettable experience with Bachs Christmas Oratorio!

VIVALDIS MOTEZUMA (FEBRUARY 11-12 & APRIL 3, 2020): Vivaldi's lost opera, Motezuma, has recently been revived! Matthias Maute completed and reconstructed the remains of the manuscript, and we are proud to present this semi-staged opera on tour across 7 cities. With a full cast and a baroque orchestra, this opera gives the 16th-century Aztec ruler of Mexico a fresh perspective. If you love history and Baroque Opera Seria, this is not to be missed!

BACH AND HANDEL (MARCH 13-14, 2020): The pinnacle of Baroque music. A collage of Bach's works  chorale, cantata, and instrumental concerts paired with selections from Handel's final oratorio, The Triumph of Time and Truth. The oratorio tells the tale of Beauty being enticed by Pleasure and Deceit, while Time and Truth struggle to advise her against temptations. To whom will Beauty adhere?

BACHS ST. JOHN PASSION (APRIL 4, 2020): BSM will return to the place of its founding at the University of Minnesota in a collaborative presentation of Bachs dramatic Passion oratorio.
