Five albums into Pop Evils career, combining strong hooks with knockout punches is more important than ever. The bands new record, simply called Pop Evil, is a surging, contemporary sounding release that incorporates metal, alternative, hard rock and even electronic music. In the wake of the bands peppy, upbeat album Up, its a wake-up call, a musical rebirth that inspired the band to self-title the release, partially since theyd never done so. Their first album, Lipstick on the Mirror came out in 2008, and while it introduced listeners to the bands core sound with well-received singles like Hero and 100 in a 55, Pop Evil has grown exponentially since then.

The four-piece band born in Edmonton, Alberta mount a high-octane assault on the lazy security-blanket self-aware irony of hipsters and the disingenuous commercial pandering of rock poseurs alike.

Born and raised in Canada, Justin cut his teeth by obsessing over the likes of Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin in his youth, while learning how to write music. With the advent of bands such as Royal Blood and Highly Suspect, he recognized the potential for a different kind of bandthats not too macho and slick, but edgy enough for the punks. Justin started tracking demos for BRKN LOVE and shortly after determined that Joel Hamilton was the perfect producer. Joel responded to the tracks by inviting him to Brooklyn to record at Studio G. Together, they cut the 13 tracks that would comprise the album as the band landed a deal with Spinefarm Records after a New York showcase.
