When Oscar Hammerstein died in 1960, Richard Rodgers, then 58, had already been writing for the stage for 40 years. But retire? Certainly not! As he said in 1962, "It's a curious sensation. I feel awfully young, and I have more energy than the kids in the chorus." Our concert is a fascinating survey in song of the last 19 years of Rodgers's career, which included five Broadway shows, two films and a television musical. You'll hear "The Sweetest Sounds," "I Have Confidence in Me," "Do I Hear a Waltz?" and much more in a program co-hosted by special guest Ted Chapin, President of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
