AJ Lee & Blue Summit plus Jimbo Scott
AJ Lee & Blue Summit plus Jimbo Scott

West Coast bluegrass and folk double bill with super vocalists A.J. and Jimbo (of Poor Mans Whiskey)

Thu. July 11 at 7:30pm $15 adv./$18 door seated <21 w/parent

Blue Summit combines accomplished instrumental work with powerful vocals and a loose interpretation of traditional bluegrass. The founding members met at bluegrass festivals, which they have been going to since they were toddlers. Through these festivals, they developed their friendships as well as a deep love and understanding of bluegrass music, and of music in general. Taking in elements from bluegrass, western swing, soul, folk, rock, and old time music, this band of friends puts their heart into their music, and has been recognized as the 2018 NCBS Band of the Year. At the head of the group is AJ Lee, songwriter extraordinaire, eight-time winning NCBS Female Vocalist of the Year, and 2018 Mandolin Player of the Year. The rest of Blue Summits accomplishments can be accredited to the dedication, persistence, and passion of founding members Isaac Cornelius (bass), Jesse Fichman (guitar), and two-time Guitar Player of the Year, Sullivan Tuttle. Blue Summit has played at festivals all around California, including the CBA Fathers Day Festival, the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, and the Kate Wolf Music Festival. They have recently released their first album, Sweet Company.

Jimbo Scott: Have you ever been walking down the street, and suddenly heard a voice that made you walk into a venue to see whose it was? That is Jimbo Scotts voice - a bell, magnetic and the definition of a powerhouse.  Jimbo Scott was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Oakland, California. Steeped in traditions of folk, roots, country, bluegrass and rock, Jimbo songs are honest, soulful dedications to the world he sees and the world he wants to live in.  In his songs The Parklands and Good and Kind, Jimbo focuses on sharing his perspectives on relationships with nature and community. His keen sense of introspection makes his songs both revealing and relatable. When he is not playing under his own name, Jimbo plays as the newest member of the famous northern California band, Poor Mans Whiskey. In 2019, Jimbo will be releasing a new full length album, recorded to tape at San Franciscos famed Tiny Telephone Studios and set to release this fall.
