Event
Symphonic Scandinavia
The concert opens with Dag Wiréns jaunty and exuberant March from his Serenade, Op. 11, featuring the KSO strings. This is followed by the not often heard Aladdin Suite by Carl Nielsen. This delightful narrative suite of seven movements from the incidental music to the dramatic fairytale by Adam Oehlenschläger will be conducted by KSO Composer in Residence and Associate Conductor Mark Narins. The concert and season will come to a triumphant close with Sibelius Second, perhaps most popular, and arguably best Symphony, in all its nationalistic glory. Of this work Sibelius said: my Second Symphony is a confession of the soul.
