Graham Dechter and Tamir Hendelman Duo at the PQ Sessions' Jazz Plus series (Sherman Oaks home concert open to the public)
PQ Sessions present: Jazz Plus: Tamir and Friends with hard-swinging, sensitive guitarist Graham Dechter and long time musical collaborator, pianist/composer/arranger Tamir Hendelman.
Accomplished guitarist, composer and arranger Graham Dechter is an LA-native and a member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra since he was 19. Dechter shows a deep reverence for the jazz guitar tradition in his warm-toned renditions of ballads, bossas,
bebop and the blues. A formidable soloist and consummate accompanist, he imbues standards with rare enthusiasm and an inherent bluesiness while carving out his own path with his own affecting original compositions.
Award-winning pianist, composer and arranger Tamir Hendelman is the leader of the Tamir Hendelman Trio and a long-time member of the Jeff Hamilton Trio and Clayton-Hamiton Jazz Orchestra. Having played with Graham Dechter in that ensemble as well as on Dechter's
three quartet releases (one soon to be released) featuring Jeff Hamilton and John Clayton,
they have developed a natural interplay that will be on display at their first duo musical evening.
The concert will be at an artistic Sherman Oaks home featuring a masterfully rebuilt 1924 Louis XV Steinway known as the Purple Queen.
The duo will perform a 90-minute set at 7pm, followed by light snacks and (non-alcoholic) refreshments. Doors open at 6:30pm.
The PQ Sessions' Jazz Plus series celebrates the tradition of Jazz music and hopes to introduce audiences to new avenues and artists in the spirit of Jazz, the sound of surprise.
