Jazz guitarist BRIAND MORRISON, a well-known artist in the music world, pairs his father George Morrison's (1919-2000) work with his own musical compositions for an original event that will please both visual art and music lovers alike.

Musical Impressions: The Art of George Morrison is a blu-ray disc produced by Briand Morrison consisting of 128 images of George Morrisons work from the 1940s through 2000. The accompanying sound track consists of twelve original jazz compositions composed and performed by Briand Morrison. Some of these images have never been shown to the public.
Briand will give a talk about his father George Morrisons work, share family stories and host Q&A following Musical Impressions.

"We listened and laughed as Briand spoke of George Morrison's life, art, and music and were drawn into the intimacy of it all as the conversation continued between guitar and art in this presentation." -Attendee

Sweet combo: Abstract painting with a live jazz soundtrack. Experience a performance by Briand Morrison Guitar Player with the artwork of his father George Morrison. -Tweed Museum
GEORGE MORRISON (Sep 30, 1919 - Apr 17, 2000) was an American painter and Minnesota Chippewa born on the Grand Portage Reservation in northern Minnesota. Morrison was part of the Abstract Expressionist movement in the 1950s and is now regarded as the father of Native Modernism.
My underlying theme is landscape, both its structural and organic elements. I am fascinated by the mystery of the horizon, the poetry of rocks, the phenomenon of sky and water. These responses, which spring from a combination of many things ... become part of the inner self."
-George Morrison
