San Isidro Bluegrass Spectacular for AFF

Join Higher Ground Bluegrass, Silver String Band, and the Squash Blossom Boys to blow out the house in a 3 hour concert to benefit ABQ Folk Fest at Old San Isidro Church in Corrales, at 7PM on April 25, 2019!

Headliners at this year's Folk Fest, Higher Ground Bluegrass (HGB) has established itself as a premier Bluegrass band in New Mexico. Founded by "Duke" Weddington (Banjo, Guitar, Vocals) in 1998, 2018 marked their 20th anniversary, which they celebrated with the release of their album HGB20. Band members include Dave Devlin (mandolin, dobro), Fred Bolton (Guitar, vocals), Pat Mahoney (Fiddle, Vocals), Laura Leach-Devlin (Bass, Vocals). Performing original material penned by members of the group, the band also plays a variety of traditional and contemporary selections influenced by the American traditions of folk, bluegrass, Celtic, country, and rock 'n roll. Silver String Band is another of Albuquerques finest roots and Americana ensembles. SSB performs originals and covers in their unique composition style. The band consists of Emily Anslover - Fiddle/Vocals, Paul Hunton- Bass/Vocals, Jacob Chavez - Mandolin/Vocals, Kyle Malone - Guitar/Vocals, Lars Olsen- Banjo/Vocals. Since 2015 the ensemble has been genre blending, putting together their individual skills sets as contest style players, song writers, and composers. They released their first album in 2016, making a name for them in Albuquerque and the region. In 2018, they released their second record, "Keep Running." The album pays homage to a number of musical styles including bluegrass, grunge, punk, jazz, gospel, and country music. Last, but certainly not least, the Squash Blossom Boys have played Southwestern stages for over ten years. With beginnings as a garage band, they have explored a variety of musical genres including rock, jazz, reggae and more to find the hard driving, high lonesome sound of Bluegrass music. The current central players include Dustin Orbesen (Dobro, Mandolin, Vocals), Kit Murray (Banjo, Vocals), Kyle Malone (Guitar), Peter Lisignoli (Bass) and Sarah Ferrell (vocals, guitar).
