Naomi Moon Siegal and SLUGish Ensemble at Art Boutiki
Trombonist, composer, and educator Naomi Moon Siegel creates work geared towards authentic expression and honest connection. A winner of an Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for Emerging Artist of the Year, her expressive trombone playing is changing the way the trombone is heard and viewed. Fusing folk melodies with fantastical soundscapes and tight grooves,  her music is introspective and celebratory, intimate and full.

Siegal's new album Live at Earshot was recorded live at the Earshot Jazz Festival on October 17, 2017 at Cornish College. The album features all original compositions by Naomi Moon Siegel with Wayne Horvitz on piano, Sean Woolstenhulme on guitar, Geoff Harper on bass, Eric Eagle on drums, and special guest Thione Diop on percussion. The album will be released in April 26 2019 on Slow & Steady records

SLUGish Ensemble is an amoeba-like musical gathering under the direction of composer & multi-reedist Steven Lugerner. Based in the SF Bay Area, their music utilizes traditional acoustic instruments to create layers of pocketed-grooves and melodies that blur the lines between pop, rhythm & blues, jazz improvisation and minimalism. SLUGishs debut album was recently named one of The Best Jazz Albums of 2018 by Bandcamp, and JAZZIZ Magazine describes the album as Northern Californias less extravagant answer to Los Angeles thriving crossover jazz scene.

As a band leader, Steven Lugerner /// aka SLUGish has released multiple albums to critical acclaim - An Eight Out of Nine (2018), Gravitations Vol 1-3 (2016), For We Have Heard (2014) Live at the Bunker (2012) Narratives (2010) & These Are The Words (2010). In his short career, Lugerner has already worked with a heavyweight cast of artists including pianists Fred Hersch & Myra Melford, trumpeter Ralph Alessi, drum legend Tootie Heath and composer/band-leaders Allison Miller, John Hollenbeck & Jamie Baum.
