Mr McFall's Chamber: Freak Out
American composers Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart and George Crumb were highly controversial. Beefheart and Zappa were instigators of the 1960s freak scene in Los Angeles, while George Crumb took on emotive subjects such as the Vietnam War or, in Idyll for the Misbegotten, our being "monarchs of a dying world". Two ex-members of one-time cult Edinburgh band Trianglehead, Paul Harrison and Martin Kershaw, also contribute new works.
Programme to include:
Captain Beefheart Ice Rose and Suction Prints
Frank Zappa Echidna's Arf and G-Spot Tornado
George Crumb Idyll for the Misbegotten
Paul Harrison The Dust Blows Forward
Martin Kershaw New work
Mr McFall's Chamber yet again find themselves triumphantly defining the innovative edge of the Scottish scene - The Scotsman
The five string players in the band will be joined by Alec Frank-Gemmill on French horn, Iain Sandilands and Tom Hunter on percussion, Paul Harrison on keys and Stuart Brown on kit. www.mcfalls.co.uk
