PROMPTUS III: What to call the space between our pillows?
PROMPTUS III: What to call the space between our pillows? aims to examine cultural and personal definitions of intimacy through sound, movement, prose, and projection-based works. The installation/performance seeks answers to questions such as how do we perform intimacy?, does your definition of intimacy match my definition? and how does our understanding of intimacy warp in the digital age? Curated by dancer and choreographer Liana Kleinman and encompassing the viewpoints of each of the performers, the evening explores multiple definitions of intimacy, and encourages the audience to share their experiences.
Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 Gallery MC 545 West 52nd St, 8th Floor New York, NY 10019

About PROMPTUS:
PROMPTUS is a trans-disciplinary collective of performers and performance-makers committed to curating community-focused happenings. Founded by Robert Fleitz and Tyler Cunningham in 2018, each event poses an instigating question which is interpreted by a curator through performance, pedagogy, composition, or a combination of all three. By asking artists to work in modalities other than their own rigorously trained discipline, a space of vulnerability is created that allows for an audience to engage with complex forms in new and equitable ways.
About the curator:
Liana Kleinman is a dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker from Los Angeles, CA. Liana graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2018 with a BFA in dance, and minors in biology and chemistry. She currently dances with H.T. Chen & Dancers, The Movement Playground, and ChristinaNoel and the Creature. Liana has performed works by Andrea Miller, Helder Seabra, Ronald K. Brown, and participated in the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's Collective Composition Lab in 2017. She is a co-creator and producer of The Roof, a collaborative film and performance series created with composer Jack Frerer, which features New York-based choreographers and composers.
