Partch
Partch is a unique ensemble that specializes in the music & instruments of the iconoclastic American Maverick composer Harry Partch who, between 1930 and 1972, created one of the most amazing bodies of sensually alluring and emotionally powerful music of the 20th century. Partch also specializes in the music of California experimental composer Lou Harisson, performing under the name Just Strings. For this concert Partch splits the concert between the music of Lou Harisson and Harry Partch with the following pieces: Lou Harrisons: Scenes from Nek Chand for microtonal National Steel guitar, Canticle No.3 and Ditone Set; and three of Harry Partchs greatest hits: Sonata Dementia, Barstow: Eight Hitchhiker's Inscriptions, and Castor & Pollux.
