One poem. Six performers. Fifteen composers. A singular Concert of daring multiplicity.
WordSong presents TYGER CIRCUS
William Blake's provocative and richly layered poem "The Tyger" inspires 15 living composers to create songs and solos for an unprecedented evening of musical multiplicity.
WordSong is Boston's premiere interactive concert organization, and one of the city's best-kept secrets. If you are among the hundreds that have been a part of our many forums and concerts over the past decade, this will be a new and fascinating take on the uniquely engaging format you have enjoyed in the past. If you have never been to a WordSong program, you are in for a singular experience like the one that the Boston Musical Intelligencer described as "a room full of strangers fallen under [a] musical spell."
Our circus is also a party: WordSong is celebrating its 10th Anniversary! In 2008, we began our unique approach to listener-focused programs in a Back Bay salon with a few settings of "The Tyger". More than 60 concerts later--in public, private, and educational venues, in Boston and throughout New England, as well as New York, Washington, Minneapolis, and as far away as Vancouver and Bulgaria--we are still roaring.
