The Old Canebrakes
Here's a rare treat: old-time music from central and eastern Kentucky. The Old Canebrakes are Bill Ray - Fiddle, banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, vocals; Becky Ray - Guitar, Appalachian dulcimer, vocals; and special guest Andy Gribble - Bass, banjo. Their repertory comes from years spent absorbed into those traditions. The music is a mixture of fiddle tunes and "singin' songs" that dip into both the old and contemporary wells of Kentucky music. They learned much from living traditional musicians, as well as contemporary Appalachian songwriters, including Larry Webster, and Jean Ritchie. Come on out; be entertained and meet some nice folks who know their sources!
